The beautiful landscape of Chile attracts numerous tourists and ambitious architects to design marvelous and unique designs. For example this 3779 square feet house with pool and a beautiful view.
The construction took place in less than a year, and the costs were one third of a regular home. The ground level is made out of concrete walls and a large steel crossbeam and posts anchor all the containers forming the unique shape of the facade. Total of six 20ft and five 40ft units and one open top unit for the swimming pool, were used for this building. The containers were shipped on trucks, cut and then welded on site before were put into place with the cranes.
The configuration of the house allows the external air to run smoothly and easily through the all house and its different parts in order to avoid mechanical cooling.with regard to the former, the strategy to achieve the proposed integration to the territory, consisted in placing the volumes of the house as if they where resting on the slope and allowing the volumes.
The containers are mounted and ensemble on top to place the private areas above, where natural airflow and light are better, that way the air and light are entering from both sides of the units. The containers are wrapped with a special material that creates together with other parts a ventilated facade and allows the cooling temperature on the inside.
The house was build by choosing low cost materials and low maintenance as well, they were chosen not only for the price but because the architectonic elements, doors, windows, skylights are rationalized and repeated all over the house, but also to create peace for the inhabitants.
More of these homes are built every year worldwide, meaning we learned to value materials and recycle them, for a better way of living and protecting the environment in the same time.
