Shipping Container Movement Kits
Moving a shipping container normally means hiring a crane or a hauling truck, expensive, and impractical if you just need to reposition it on your own property. Movement kits change that. They let you jack the container up, put it on wheels, and roll or tow it into place yourself, no crane and no professional service required.
The system works with the container's own structure. Wheel hub adapters insert into the corner castings, the heavy steel fittings at each corner, and twist to lock, then ratchet straps secure them. Nothing bolts to or drills into the container, so the whole setup is no-drill and fully removable, which means it also works on a rented container. Add a tow bar hitch to pull the container behind a vehicle, and jacks or lifting brackets to raise each corner high enough to fit the wheels.
How to choose: if you only need to roll the container short distances, a wheel kit is the core piece. To tow it with a vehicle, add the tow bar. To handle the lifting, you will want a jack and leveler. For the simplest path, an all-in-one mobility bundle pairs the wheels, lifting gear, and hitch together so you have everything to lift, mount, and tow in one purchase. All of it is reusable for future moves.
Our guide on how to move a shipping container walks through the methods, equipment, and what to expect.
What's in a container movement kit:
A complete setup combines a few pieces, and you can buy them together or build your own:
- Wheel kits: the wheel movement kit and wheel kit bundle turn your container into something you can roll.
- Tow bar and hitch: the tow bar hitch kit lets you pull it with a vehicle.
- Lifting and leveling: a leveler booster bracket and bottle jack raise the container to fit the wheels and set it level.
- All-in-one: the mobility bundle packages the lifting, mounting, and towing pieces together.
