Building a Legacy: How Travis Walton Turned Grit Into Growth at USA Containers
Share
Before USA Containers, Travis built his career through hard, physical work. He spent years in construction, pouring concrete, roofing, framing, and working with sheet metal. At one point, he even sold Kirby vacuum cleaners door-to-door, a role that taught him resilience, communication, and the art of persistence. Those early experiences shaped the strong work ethic he carries today.
Family as the Foundation
Travis met Elise at a recovery event, and together they started a new life. Their story is rooted in overcoming challenges and building a future on stronger ground. Today they are raising five children and family is at the center of everything they do.
Joining USA Containers
Elise was the first to take the leap with USA Containers. She quickly proved herself with one of her best sales months ever, which inspired Travis to join. His first month brought only a few sales, but by the next, he had sold 15 containers. That growth made it clear: this was the opportunity he had been searching for.
New Ventures and Challenges
A defining moment came at a trade show in Las Vegas. It was Travis’s first time flying, his first time wearing a suit in his profession, and his first chance to meet the team in person. There, he saw tilt-bed trailers in action and decided to start Royalty Containers Trucking. Inspired by Elise, known as the “Container Queen,” and by their shared faith, the name carried deep meaning.
The road was not easy. Driver shortages, costly accidents, and high insurance premiums tested his resolve. At times, he thought about walking away. But each challenge became an opportunity to learn, adapt, and grow stronger. Their journey shows how personal strength and professional growth can go hand in hand.
Recruiting and Building Teams
As USA Containers expanded, so did the need for new sales agents. Travis helped shape the recruiting process, creating presentations to explain the role, the income potential, and the expectations. More than 12,000 people have applied, hundreds have attended these sessions, and a select few have gone on to become permanent sales agents. This system continues to strengthen the foundation of the company.
Opening the Walton Yard
Most recently, Travis and Elise opened a new USA Containers yard in Walton, Kansas. With fewer than 300 residents, the town might be small, but the project represents something much larger: a milestone for the company, a new opportunity for the community, and a legacy for the family.
Values That Shape the Future
Honesty, hard work, and faith are values that drive Travis and carried him from construction to online sales, from trucking to recruiting, and now to managing a yard that will have a positive impact on an entire region.
In fewer than three years, Travis has helped reshape the way containers are sold and delivered in the U.S. Looking ahead, he envisions more yards, more trucks, more agents, and a stronger community as proof of what is possible when resilience meets opportunity.
