Logistics, Leadership, and Loyalty: Iris Elezi’s Rise at USA Containers
Share
In early 2022, Iris Elezi came across a job posting on a remote employment site. She didn’t know anything about the company that placed the ad and she certainly didn’t expect to get hired right away. She definitely didn’t expect to become a key force behind its logistics operations.
Today, Iris is our Logistics Manager, leading a team of eight and helping orchestrate container deliveries across the United States and Canada. In a recent podcast episode, she sat down with our founder, Andrei Popa, and reflected on her unexpected path, the lessons she’s learned along the way, and why she’s here to stay.
A Bold Decision and No Regrets
Iris’s story starts with a bold decision. She left university, quit her job, and walked away from a life that wasn’t working for her. “I don’t regret anything,” she said. “If I had to go through it all again just to end up here, I would.”
For months, she searched for remote work. She wasn’t sure what she was looking for, but she knew she didn’t want to settle. That’s when she found USA Containers. The role? Customer support. It wasn’t her dream job, but it was remote, and she decided to give it a shot.
Finding Her Place in Logistics
Customer support wasn’t the right fit. “I’m too straightforward,” Iris said. “Customers need patience and empathy. I needed to be more sensible.” Two months in, she got a call from Andrei with a simple question: “Do you want to try logistics?”
She didn’t know much about it, but said yes anyway. That one choice changed everything. She started as a logistics assistant, helping schedule deliveries, coordinate with drivers, and communicate with customers. Over time, she learned the ropes and began running her own zone.
Team Player Turned Team Leader
Today, Iris oversees three logistics zones and manages eight team members. She begins her workday early to prepare for whatever surprises come her way. From rogue rain storms to roadside breakdowns, her job is never boring.
Her calm, early-start approach helps keep operations on track. She’s built trust with her team and earned the respect of colleagues across the company. “It gives me purpose,” she said. “It’s different every day, and I love that I get to make things run smoothly.”
She even helped her sister join the company, continuing a growing legacy that started with a single application.
A Degree, a Dream, and a Whole Lot of Drive
While growing her logistics career, Iris went back to school and completed her bachelor’s degree in banking and finance. She’s now thinking about a master’s degree to make her parents proud.
Her vision for the future is clear. She wants to grow with the company, travel more, and be part of big moves ahead. She jokes about hosting retreats in Albania, exploring Brazil without working, and one day visiting Santa’s village in Finland. But one thing she’s serious about is her commitment.
“I’m never leaving you guys,” she said. “I want to see the greater USA Containers.”
Courage, Consistency, and Coffee
Iris’s journey shows that potential isn’t always obvious at first. Sometimes all it takes is a chance, a little trust, and the willingness to grow. From unsure beginnings to leading logistics with confidence, she has built a career grounded in effort, loyalty, and heart.
To Iris — thank you for bringing consistency, courage, and coffee to the table every day. You’ve built more than just routes and schedules. You’ve built a team that thrives and we appreciate everything you do for the company.
