Do the cutting once.

This is the part most people learn the hard way. Adding a roll-up door means renting or buying a grinder or plasma cutter, sourcing steel tube for the frame, dragging out a welder, squaring an opening, and sealing the perimeter. Six months later, when you decide the container is too dark and too humid to actually work in, you do the whole thing again for a window.

Buying them together means one setup, one cut day, one caulk-and-flashing pass, one cleanup. If you're paying a fabricator by the hour, that's the difference between two trip charges and one.

The door: real access, not a bigger hatch.

Standard cargo doors are heavy, swing wide, and demand clearance you usually don't have. A roll-up door lifts overhead on a spiral counterbalance barrel, so a single person can open it by hand and nothing swings into a parking spot, a fence, or a shelving aisle.

The window: light and air without a security hole.

Cutting a window into corrugated steel weakens the panel and creates an obvious entry point. This kit solves both. The included steel tube welds into the opening and restores rigidity around the cut, giving the window a square, true seat. The security bars are welded in - not clipped on - so the opening reads as hardened from the outside.

Specifications

Installation Overview

Both openings follow the same sequence: measure and mark → cut → frame → mount → seal.

1. Plan both openings before cutting. Keep the door and window on opposite or adjacent walls for cross-ventilation, and stay clear of corner castings and door frames.
2. Cut both openings in one session. Angle grinder, plasma cutter, or torch. Full PPE - gloves, eyes, ears.
3. Frame the door opening with steel tubing or structural lumber, squared and level, welded or bolted to the wall.
4. Weld the window's steel tube directly into its opening - this one is supplied with the kit.
5. Hang the door (two people or lifting equipment - it's heavy), align the guides, fasten tracks and header.
6. Bolt the window into its welded tube.
7. Seal everything with caulk or flashing, then cycle the door and slider several times to confirm smooth operation.
