Installing Your Shipping Container Man Door
What You’ll Need:
Measuring tape & marker – to mark the door placement
Cutting tool (angle grinder, plasma cutter, or torch) – to cut the container wall
Welder & safety gear – MIG or stick welder, gloves, mask, and protective equipment
Level & square – to ensure the door sits plumb and even
Caulk or flashing – for sealing any small gaps against weather and dust
Helpers or lifting equipment – the framed door is heavy and best handled with two people
1. Mark & Cut the Opening
Measure and mark where you want the man door placed.
Cut the container wall panel slightly larger than the outer frame of the door.

2. Position the Pre-Framed Door
With assistance, lift the pre-framed man door into the opening.
Make sure the frame is level, square, and flush with the container wall.
3. Weld the Door Frame in Place
Tack weld the corners to hold the frame securely.
Finish weld around the perimeter of the frame for a strong, weather-tight fit.

5. Test & Seal
Open and close the door to confirm smooth operation.
Seal any small gaps with caulk or flashing for extra protection.
Add finishing touches like locks or handles as needed.

4. Optional: Paint the Door
Since our doors come unpainted, you may choose to paint your man door for added protection and to match your container.
Use a rust-resistant primer and exterior-grade paint for the best results.
