Description

The two cuts every container conversion needs, sold together. A pre-assembled galvannealed man door with its weld-in frame, plus a sliding dual-pane window with welded security bars and its own weld-on steel tube. Both arrive framed and ready to drop into an opening - no tube steel to source, no frame to fabricate, no second trip to the metal supplier.

Man door available with or without a 10" Ɨ 10" vision window. Made to order - allow 2–3 weeks.

Full Description

Both frames are in the box. That's the whole point.

Most container modification projects stall at the same place: the fabrication. You've got a door, you've got a window, and now you're pricing tube steel, cutting it to length, mitering corners, and hoping the finished frame ends up square. That step is where DIY container builds go sideways.

Neither of these needs it. The man door ships as a pre-assembled door and frame system with an Easy-Weld two-step frame - you cut the opening and weld the assembly in flush. The window ships with a weld-on steel tube that welds into its own opening and then accepts the window on bolts. Same welder, same afternoon, two finished openings.

The man door: a real entry, not a cargo-door workaround.

Swinging 250 lbs of cargo door every time you need a screwdriver gets old in about a week. A dedicated personnel door makes a container behave like a building.

  • Pre-assembled door and frame with weld cap, ready to install
  • Galvannealed steel construction - corrosion-resistant
  • 20-gauge door with insulated polystyrene core; 16-gauge frame with welded top corners
  • Heavy reinforcement where it matters: 7-gauge hinge plates, 12-gauge door closer plate, 16-gauge top and bottom channel
  • ADA-compliant threshold for a flush, accessible entry
  • Weather seals to keep out dust, rain, and pests
  • Rough opening 41-1/8" Ɨ 82-9/16" | Door 35-3/4" Ɨ 79-1/8" Ɨ 1-3/4" | 126 lbs
  • Ships unfinished for easy welding - prime and paint to match your build
  • Choose with or without a 10" Ɨ 10" vision window

Door handles and locks are not included - install the hardware your application calls for.

The window: the part that makes it livable.

The man door's optional 10" Ɨ 10" light lets you see who's outside. It does not light a room. This does.

  • Dual-pane insulated glass - the single biggest thing you can do about container condensation, which is what ruins drywall and stored inventory in converted units
  • Welded security bars, integrated into the frame rather than clipped on
  • Horizontal sliding sash - no swing clearance needed inside or out, which matters when shelving runs to the wall
  • Integrated locking system plus a mesh screen for insect-free ventilation
  • White PVC frame - won't rust, never needs painting
  • 26-1/2" window seated in a 28-3/4" weld-on steel tube

Why they belong on the same container.

A door gives you access. A window gives you light and air. You need both before a container becomes an office, a shop, a studio, or a bunkhouse - and the airflow only works if there are two openings. Door on one end, slider on the other, and you get actual cross-ventilation instead of a hot steel box with a nice entrance.

Installation Overview

Identical process for both openings - do them back to back.

  1. Mark both openings. Door at 41-1/8" Ɨ 82-9/16" plus clearance; window sized to the steel tube. Stay clear of corner castings and the cargo door frame.
  2. Cut with an angle grinder, plasma cutter, or torch. Full PPE. Deburr the edges.
  3. Set the assemblies in - the man door is 126 lbs, so bring a helper or lifting equipment. Shim to plumb, level, and square.
  4. Tack the four corners, re-check level, then run a continuous finish weld around the full exterior perimeter. On the man door this is the critical step: that continuous bead is what makes the opening structural and watertight.
  5. Weld the window tube in the same way, then bolt the window into it.
  6. Cycle both - open and close the door, slide the sash several times, confirm nothing binds.
  7. Seal and finish. Caulk or flash remaining gaps. Wire-brush the man door frame, prime over the raw welds, and paint to match. Install your door hardware.
